His saying: "We opened for them the doors of everything."
[The First Aspect]
7283 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, 'Arak ibn Khalid ibn Yazid narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from Ibrahim ibn Abi 'Ablah, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to say: "When Allah, Blessed and Exalted, intends for a people persistence or growth, He provides them with moderation and chastity; and when He intends for a people termination, He opens for them—or opens upon them—a door of betrayal, until when they rejoice in that which they were given, We seize them suddenly, and then they are in despair," as He said: "So the last remnant of the people who committed wrong was cut off. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
7284 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Shibl, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "We opened for them the doors of everything," he said: The prosperity of the world and its ease.

[The Second Aspect]
7287 - It was mentioned from Abu Badr Shuja' ibn al-Walid, from Abu Sinan al-Shaybani, that he said regarding His saying: "We opened for them the doors of everything," he said: He opened it upon them for forty years.
His saying: "Until when they rejoiced in that which they were given."
7288 - Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman Abu 'Ubayd Allah, the nephew of Ibn Wahb, narrated to us, my uncle narrated to us, Harmalah and Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from 'Uqbah ibn Muslim al-Tujibi, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: "When you see Allah giving the servant [worldly goods] while he remains in his disobedience, it is only a gradual enticement (istidraj) from Him." Then he recited the saying of Allah: "So when they forgot that which they had been reminded of, We opened for them the doors of everything, until when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and then they are in despair."
