Translation · EN

His saying: "And if it should offer every ransom, it will not be taken from it." He said: If it were to come with the earth full of gold, it would not be accepted from it.

7456 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd narrated to us regarding His saying: "And if it should offer every ransom, it will not be taken from it," he said: If it were to offer [a ransom], and if it were to seek to ransom itself with the world and what is in it, it would not be accepted from it as a ransom for its own soul; it would not be accepted from it.

[His saying: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned."]

[The first interpretation]

7457 - Abu Zur'a narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umara informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned" – they are handed over for what they have done.

The second interpretation:

7458 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiya ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talha, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned" – he means: they are disgraced.

The third interpretation:

7459 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are seized for what they have earned.

The fourth interpretation:

7460 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Husayn ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Sufyan ibn Husayn was asked about His saying: "given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are abandoned and handed over. Have you not heard the saying of the poet:

I have become devoid of them, for they are busl (forsaken).

The fifth interpretation:

7461 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, he said: Sufyan [said] regarding His saying: "given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are handed over and held as collateral.

قوله: وإن تعدل كل عدل لا يؤخذ منها قال: لَوْ جَاءَتْ بِمِلْءِ الأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا لَمْ يُقْبَلْ مِنْهَا.

٧٤٥٦ - كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِنْ تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عدل لا يؤخذ، قال: وإن تعدل وإن يفتد يكون لَهُ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا، يَفْتَدِي بِهَا لَا يُؤْخَذْ مِنْهُ عَدْلا فِي نَفْسِهِ، لَا يُقْبَلْ منه

٧٤٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا أُبْسِلُوا أَسْلَمُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا.

٧٤٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا يَعْنِي فُضِحُوا.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:

٧٤٥٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا قَالَ: أُخِذُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا.

٧٤٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ: سُئِلَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا قَالَ: خُذِلُوا أُسْلِمُوا، أَمَا سَمِعْتَ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ:

أفقرت مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ بُسْلٌ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الْخَامِسُ:

٧٤٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُوا قَالَ: أُسْلِمُوا ارْتُهِنُوا.
