7457 - Abu Zur'a narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umara informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned" – they are handed over for what they have done.
The second interpretation:
7458 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiya ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talha, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned" – he means: they are disgraced.
The third interpretation:
7459 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "Those are the ones who are given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are seized for what they have earned.
The fourth interpretation:
7460 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Husayn ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Sufyan ibn Husayn was asked about His saying: "given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are abandoned and handed over. Have you not heard the saying of the poet:
I have become devoid of them, for they are busl (forsaken).
The fifth interpretation:
7461 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, he said: Sufyan [said] regarding His saying: "given up to destruction for what they have earned," he said: They are handed over and held as collateral.
