The Fifth Aspect:
7529 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatada, regarding His saying: "Inclining toward truth (Hanifan)," he said: The Hanifiyyah is the testimony that there is no god but Allah. Included in this are the prohibition of [marrying] mothers, daughters, paternal aunts, maternal aunts, and what Allah the Almighty has forbidden, as well as circumcision.
The Sixth Aspect:
7530 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, from Abu Qutayba al-Basri—he is Nu'aym ibn Thabit—from Abu Qilaba, regarding His saying: "Inclining toward truth (Hanifan)," he said: The Hanif is the one who believes in all the messengers from the first of them to the last of them.
His saying, Almighty and Majestic is He: "And his people argued with him."
7531 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi': As for His saying: "And his people argued with him," he says: They disputed with him.
His saying, the Almighty: "He said, 'Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me?'"
7532 - It was mentioned from Muhammad ibn al-Salt, Bishr ibn 'Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Do you argue with me concerning Allah?" He said: Do you dispute with me concerning Allah?
7533 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, client of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salama narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "And his people argued with him concerning Allah," [meaning] they were asking him to describe Him, and they were telling him that their gods were better than what he worshipped. So he said: "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me?"
His saying: "And I do not fear what you associate with Him, unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge. Then will you not be reminded?"
7534 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn al-Rabi' narrated to us, Mu'amir narrated to us, he said: I heard my father narrating from Sayyar Abu al-Hakam, from Ibn 'Abbas, that he asked Ka'b about the Mother of the Book (Umm al-Kitab), and he said: Allah knew what He was going to create and what His creation would do.
His saying: "And how should I fear what you associate..."
7535 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, client of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salama narrated to us, Salama [narrated to us]...
