His saying, the Exalted: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him."
7586 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him," he said: They are the disbelievers who did not believe in Allah's power over them. So, whoever believes that Allah is capable of all things has indeed estimated Allah with the estimation due to Him, and whoever did not believe in that has not believed in Allah with the estimation due to Him.
7587 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him," he says: It refers to Quraysh.
7588 - My father narrated to us, Qutbah ibn al-'Ala' al-Ghanawi narrated to us, Abu Ma'shar narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding His saying: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him," he said: They did not know how He is, since they lied.
7589 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Ibn Abi Ja'far—that is, Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Ja'far—narrated to us, from Yahya ibn al-Durays, from Mika'il, he said: His saying: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him," he said: They did not exalt Allah with the exaltation due to Him.

7590 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa al-Ansari narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him," meaning: They did not exalt Him with the exaltation due to Him.
His saying, the Exalted: "When they said: Allah has not sent down anything upon any human."

7591 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih (the scribe of al-Layth) narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "When they said: Allah has not sent down anything upon any human," meaning from the Children of Israel. The Jews said: Has Allah sent down a Book upon you? He [the Prophet] said: Yes. They said: By Allah, Allah has not sent down any book from heaven. So Allah sent down: "Say, O Muhammad: Who sent down the Book that Musa (Moses) brought as a light and guidance to the people?"

7592 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: Ibn Kathir informed me that he heard Mujahid saying: "And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him, when they said: Allah has not sent down anything upon any human," he said: The polytheists of Quraysh said it.

٧٥٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ قَالَ: هُمُ الْكُفَّارُ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَمَنْ آمَنَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ فَقَدْ قَدَرَ اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِذَلِكَ فَلَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ.
٧٥٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا شِبْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ:
قَوْلَهُ: وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ يَقُولُ لَهُ: قُرَيْشٌ.
٧٥٨٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا قُطْبَةُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ الْغَنَوِيُّ ثنا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ قَالَ: مَا عَلِمُوا كَيْفَ هُوَ حَيْثُ كَذَبُوا.
٧٥٨٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي، جَعْفَرٍ، هُوَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ- عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الضُّرَيْسِ، عَنْ مِيكَائِيلَ قَالَ: قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ قَالَ: مَا عَظَّمُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ عَظَمَتِهِ.

٧٥٩٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي، مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ: قَوْلَهُ: وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ يَعْنِي مَا عَظَّمُوهُ حَقَّ عَظَمَتِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِذْ قَالُوا مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَشَرٍ من شيء

٧٥٩١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَوْلَهُ: إِذْ قَالُوا مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍ يَعْنِي مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، قَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ: أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ كِتَابًا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ.
قَالُوا: وَاللَّهِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ كِتَابًا. فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ: قُلْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ: مَنْ أَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذِي جَاءَ بِهِ مُوسَى نُورًا وَهُدًى لِلنَّاسِ.

٧٥٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُجَاهِدًا يَقُولُ: مَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ إِذْ قَالُوا مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍ قَالَ: قَالَهَا مُشْرِكُو قُرَيْشٍ.
