7613 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far al-Razi, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah: "Confirming that which is between his hands," meaning: from the Torah and the Gospel.

His saying: "And so that you may warn the Mother of Cities"

7614 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding his saying: "To warn the Mother of Cities," he means by the Mother of Cities: Makkah.

7615 - My father narrated to us, al-Ansari narrated to me, Ibn Jurayj narrated to me, he said: 'Ata' and 'Amr ibn Dinar said—one of them adding more than the other: Allah sent winds, so they split the water and revealed the location of the House upon a white mound (hashafah), and Allah expanded the earth from it, and that is why it is the Mother of Cities.

7616 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: Regarding his saying: "To warn the Mother of Cities and whoever is around it," as for the Mother of Cities, it is Makkah, and it was only called the Mother of Cities because it is the first house that was placed in it.

7617 - And something similar to that was narrated from Mujahid, al-Dahhak, al-Hasan, Qatadah, Yahya ibn Ya'mur, and Abu Fakhitah.

His saying: "And whoever is around it"

7618 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding his saying: "To warn the Mother of Cities and whoever is around it," he means: and what is around it of the cities toward the east and the west.

7619 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, regarding his saying: "And whoever is around it": All the cities.

His saying, the Almighty: "And those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it"

7620 - Mahmud ibn Adam al-Marwazi informed us in what he wrote to me, he said: I heard al-Nadr ibn Shumayl saying in the interpretation of "the believer" (al-mu'min): That he is secure from the punishment of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
