[His saying: 'And He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden for you']

7817 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us from Qatadah, regarding His saying: 'And He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden for you,' he says: He has clarified for you.

His saying: 'Except that to which you are compelled'

7818 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id, regarding His saying: 'Except that to which you are compelled,' meaning: What He has forbidden to you of carrion; that is entirely the compulsion.

His saying: 'And indeed, many'

7819 - And through the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: 'And indeed, many,' meaning: From the polytheists of the Arabs.

His saying: 'Mislead by their desires without knowledge'

7820 - And through the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: 'Mislead by their desires without knowledge,' meaning: In the matter of slaughtered animals and other things. 'Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of the transgressors.'

His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin'

7821 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi', regarding His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin and its hidden aspects,' he said: Allah forbade the apparent sin and its hidden aspects from being practiced.

His saying: 'Apparent sin'

[The First Interpretation]

7822 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Tahman, from 'Ata', from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin,' he said: Apparent sin is marriage to mothers and daughters.

7823 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Sahl ibn Bakkar narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: 'And leave the apparent sin.' He said: The apparent is: 'Prohibited to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, and your maternal aunts.'
