Volume 4 · Page 334His saying: 'Thus does Allah place the abomination...' [to the end of] the verse.

Translation · EN

7880 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed us, by way of reading, my father informed me, from al-Awza'i: "And whoever He intends to misguide, He makes his chest narrow and tight, as if he were climbing into the sky." How can he whom Allah has made his chest narrow be a Muslim?

7881 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to me, Hafs ibn 'Umar narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban reported to us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: regarding His saying: "As if he were climbing into the sky," he says: Just as the son of Adam is unable to reach the sky, so too is he unable to cause Tawhid and faith to enter his heart, until Allah introduces it into his heart.

7882 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from 'Ata' al-Khurasani, regarding His saying: "As if he were climbing into the sky," he says: Its likeness is like the one who is unable to climb into the sky.

7883 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi reported to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "As if he were climbing into the sky," he said: Because of the tightness of his chest.

His saying: "Thus does Allah lay the filth (al-rijs)," to the end of the verse.

7884 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: regarding His saying: "Thus does Allah lay the filth upon those who do not believe," he said: The filth is that in which there is no good.

His saying, the Exalted: "And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight."

7885 - al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah narrated to us, Ibn Yaman narrated to us, from Hamzah al-Zayyat, from Sa'd al-Ta'i, from the nephew of al-Harith, from al-Harith, who said: I entered upon 'Ali, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "The Straight Path is the Book of Allah."

His saying: "We have detailed the signs."

7886 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "We detail the signs," he said: We clarify the signs.
