His saying, the Exalted: "Just as He brought you into being from the descendants of other people."

7906 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uqbah ibn Mukram narrated to us, Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Ya'qub ibn 'Utbah, he said: I heard Aban ibn 'Uthman saying: "Just as He brought you into being from the descendants of other people," he said: The descendants are the origin, and the descendants are the offspring.

His saying: "Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allah]."

7907 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Musaffa narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Himyar narrated to us, from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Maryam, from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), he said: "O children of Adam, if you are of understanding, then count yourselves among the dead. By Him in whose hand is my soul, indeed what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allah]."

His saying: "And you will not cause failure [to Allah]."

7908 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Amarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "And you will not cause failure [to Allah]," he says: You will not be [able to] outrun [Him].

His saying: "Say, 'O my people, work according to your position.'"

7909 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "O my people, work according to your position," he said: Upon your own side [or path]. It was narrated from Mujahid and al-Dahhak similarly.

His saying, the Exalted: "...who will have the success of the home. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed."

7910 - And with the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "The wrongdoers," meaning I will not accept what was in shirk [associating partners with Allah].

His saying, the Mighty and Majestic: "And they assigned to Allah from that which He created of crops and livestock a share."

7911 - And with the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "And they assigned to Allah from that which He created of crops and livestock a share, and they said, 'This is for Allah,' by their claim, 'and this is for our partners.'" He said: They assigned to Allah a share of their fruits and wealth, and to the shaytan [devil] and the idols a share. If any of the fruits they assigned to Allah fell into the share of the shaytan, they would leave it; and if anything from what they assigned to the shaytan fell into the share of Allah, they would prick it [to identify it], preserve it, and return it to the share of the shaytan. And if the irrigation water they assigned to Allah overflowed into the share of the shaytan, they would leave it; and if the irrigation water they assigned to the shaytan overflowed into the share of Allah, they would divert it. This is what was assigned to Allah from the crops and irrigation water.
