[6081] My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah," and this is regarding testimony. So establish the testimony, O son of Adam, even if it be against yourself, or your parents, or your kinsfolk, or the noble ones of your people. For indeed, the testimony is for Allah, not for people. And indeed, Allah is pleased with justice for His own sake. Equity and justice are the balance of Allah on earth, by which Allah turns back the powerful against the weak, the liar against the truthful, and the falsifier against the one who is in the right. And by justice, the truthful is affirmed and the liar is refuted, and the aggressor is turned back and rebuked, Blessed and Exalted is He. And by justice, people are set aright, O son of Adam.
His saying, the Almighty: "[In] justice, witnesses for Allah."
[6082] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "[In] justice, witnesses for Allah," meaning: with justice. The same has been narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan.
His saying, the Almighty: "Or against yourselves."
[6083] And by the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Or against yourselves," he says: If there is a right upon you, then admit to it against yourself.
[6084] I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Or against yourselves," he says: against yourself.
His saying, the Almighty: "Or the parents and the near relatives."
[6085] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Or the parents and the near relatives," meaning: or against the parents and the near relatives, so bear witness with it against them.
[6086] I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Or the parents and the near relatives," he says: against yourself or against the parents and the near relatives, whether he is near or distant, whether he is rich or poor.

٦٠٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلَهُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلَّهِ وَهَذَا فِي الشَّهَادَةِ، فَأَقِمِ الشَّهَادَةَ «١» يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ وَلَوْ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ أَوْ وَالِدَيْكَ أَوْ عَلَى ذَوِي قَرَابَتِكَ أَوْ عَلَى أَشْرَافِ قَوْمِكَ، فَإِنَّمَا الشَّهَادَةُ لِلَّهِ وَلَيْسَتْ لِلنَّاسِ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ رَضِيَ بِالْعَدْلِ لِنَفْسِهِ، وَالإِقْسَاطُ وَالْعَدْلُ مِيزَانُ اللَّهِ فِي الأَرْضِ بِهِ يَرُدُّ اللَّهُ مِنَ الشَّدِيدِ عَلَى الضَّعِيفِ وَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِ عَلَى الصَّادِقِ، وَمَنَ الْمُبْطِلِ عَلَى الْمُحِقِّ، وَبِالْعَدْلِ يُصَدَّقُ الصَّادِقُ وَيُكَذَّبُ الْكَاذِبُ، وَيُرَدُّ الْمُعْتَدِي وَيُوَبِّخُهُ، تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَبِالْعَدْلِ صَلُحَ النَّاسُ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ.
قَوْلَهُ تَعَالَى: بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلَّهِ.
٦٠٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ: بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلَّهِ يَعْنِي: بِالْعَدْلِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَوْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ.
٦٠٨٣ - وَبِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ: وَلَوْ على أنفسكم يقول: لو كان تأحد عَلَيْكَ حَقٌّ فَأَقْرَرْتَ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.
٦٠٨٤ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: وَلَوْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ يَقُولُ: عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ.
٦٠٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ: أَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ يَعْنِي: أَوْ عَلَى الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ فَاشْهَدْ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ.
٦٠٨٦ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: أَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ يَقُولُ: عَلَى نَفْسِكَ أَوْ عَلَى الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ قَرِيبًا كَانَ أَوْ بَعِيدًا، غَنِيًّا كَانَ أَوْ فَقِيرًا.
