His saying, the Almighty: "If he be rich or poor, then Allah is more worthy of both."
[6087] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "If he be rich or poor," he said: Allah commanded the believers to speak the truth and not to show favoritism to a rich person because of his wealth, nor to have compassion on a poor person because of his poverty.
[6088] Ahmad ibn Sinan ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If he be rich or poor," he said: It was revealed regarding the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Two men, one rich and one poor, disputed before him. His inclination was with the poor man, thinking that the poor man would not wrong the rich one. So Allah, the Almighty, refused except that justice be maintained between the rich and the poor.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then Allah is more worthy of both."
[6089] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Then Allah is more worthy of both," he said, meaning: Allah is more worthy of the rich and the poor than anyone else.
His saying, the Almighty: "So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just."

[6091] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Then Allah is more worthy of both," he said, meaning: Allah is more worthy of the rich and the poor than anyone else.

[6094] I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim reported to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "So follow not [personal] inclination in testimony when you are called to it, so that you may speak by it and be just."
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنْ يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا فَاللَّهُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا.
٦٠٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: إِنْ يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا قَالَ: أَمَرَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ يَقُولُوا الْحَقَّ، وَلا يُحَابُونَ غَنِيًّا لِغِنَاهُ وَلا يَرْحَمُونَ مِسْكِينًا لِمَسْكَنَتِهِ.
٦٠٨٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن ثمان بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلَهُ: إِنْ يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا قَالَ: نَزَلَتْ فِي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اخْتَصَمَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلانِ غَنِيٌّ وَفَقِيرٌ، فَكَانَ ضَلْعُهُ مَعَ الْفَقِيرِ يَرَى أَنَّ الْفَقِيرَ لَا يَظْلِمُ الْغَنِيَّ، فَأَبَى اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِلا أَنْ يَقُومَ بِالْقِسْطِ فِي الْغَنِيِّ وَالْفَقِيرِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَاللَّهُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا.
٦٠٨٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ: فَاللَّهُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا قَالَ: يَعْنِي: أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْلَى بِالْغَنِيِّ وَالْفَقِيرِ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَلا تَتَّبِعُوا الْهَوَى أَنْ تَعْدِلُوا.
٦٠٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: فَلا تَتَّبِعُوا الْهَوَى فَتَذَرُوا الْحَقَّ فَتَجُورُوا.

٦٠٩٤ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: فَلا تَتَّبِعُوا الْهَوَى فِي الشَّهَادَةِ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ لَهَا أَنْ تَقُولُوا بِهَا وَتَعْدِلُوا.
