His saying, the Almighty: "And We gave Musa clear authority."

[6198] Al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And We gave Musa clear authority," he says: [It means] a proof.

His saying, the Almighty: "And We raised over them."

[6199] Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Yahya ibn Yaman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Muslim al-Batin regarding His saying: "And We raised over them the Mount," he said: "The angels raised it."

His saying, the Almighty: "The Mount for their covenant."

[6200] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "The Mount (al-Tur)," he said: "The Mount is that which grows [trees/plants] among the mountains, and that which does not grow [them] is not a mount (tur)."

[6201] My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Mahdi al-Missisi narrated to us, Abu 'Abd al-Samad al-'Ammi narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "The Mount is a mountain."

It has been narrated from Mujahid, 'Ikrimah, al-Hasan, al-Dahhak, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and Abu Sakhr the like of that.

[6202] Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: 'Ata' said to me regarding: "And We raised over them the Mount": "He raised the mountain over them, over the Children of Israel, and said: 'You shall believe in it, or else it shall fall upon you.'"

[6203] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: "When they refused to prostrate, Allah commanded the mountain to fall upon them. They looked at it as it loomed over them, so they fell prostrate on one side and looked with the other. Allah then had mercy on them and removed it from them, so they said: 'No prostration is more beloved to Allah than a prostration by which He removes the torment from them.' Thus they continue to prostrate in that manner, and that is the saying of Allah, the Almighty: 'And We raised over them the Mount.'"

[6204] Muhammad ibn 'Ammar ibn al-Harith al-Razi narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn al-Durays informed us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Enter the gate bowing/prostrating," he said: "Through a small gate."
