His saying, the Almighty: "And indeed, those who differ therein are in doubt about it."
[6235] Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Shaiban informed us from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And indeed, those who differ therein are in doubt about it, they have no knowledge of it." He said: These are the enemies of Allah, the Jews, who conspired to kill the Prophet of Allah, 'Isa, and they claimed that they killed him and crucified him.
[6236] Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding His saying: "And indeed, those who differ therein are in doubt about it," meaning: when they differed regarding the number of his companions.
His saying, the Almighty: "They have no knowledge thereof, except following conjecture."
[6237] My father narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Imran narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Sahl—meaning Ibn Abi al-Salt—narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Hasan saying regarding the saying of Allah: "They have no knowledge thereof, except following conjecture," he said: They did not have certainty in their souls, but it was merely conjecture on their part.
[6238] Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding His saying: "They have no knowledge thereof," meaning: they had no certainty regarding his killing, except following conjecture.
His saying, the Almighty: "And they killed him not for certain."
[6239] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And they killed him not for certain," meaning: they did not kill their certainty as a certainty.
[6240] Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "And they killed him not for certain," regarding their knowledge.
His saying, the Almighty: "But Allah raised him up unto Himself."
[6241] Al-Walid ibn Muslim mentioned, Sadaqah ibn Yazid al-Khurasani narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Until when he reached his full strength," he said: Thirty-three years, and that is the age at which 'Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, was raised.", "comments": "(1). Surah al-Ahqaf, verse: 15.
