‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: "There were no prophets who had two names except ‘Isa and Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."
His saying, the Almighty: "And His word which He conveyed to Maryam."
[6309] Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi’ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma’mar informed us, from Qatadah, he said: He said to him: "Be," and he was.
[6310] Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, he said: I heard Shadh ibn Yahya saying regarding His saying, the Almighty: "And His word which He conveyed to Maryam and a spirit from Him"—he said: "The word did not become ‘Isa; rather, it was by the word that ‘Isa came to be."
His saying, the Almighty: "And a spirit from Him; so believe in Allah and His messengers."
[The First Aspect]
[6311] It was mentioned from Hakkam, from ‘Anbasah, from Layth, from Mujahid: "And His word which He conveyed to Maryam and a spirit from Him"—he said: "A messenger from Him."
[The Second Aspect]
[6312] Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Shadh ibn Yahya narrated to us, he said: I said to Yazid ibn Harun: "What does 'He conveyed to her' (al-ha) refer to?" He said: "The spirit of Allah among His servants." He said: "The love of people." Then Yazid recited: "And His word which He conveyed to Maryam and a spirit from Him"—he said: "Love."
His saying, the Almighty: "And do not say, 'Three'; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God."
[6313] My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Najih, from ‘Ata’, he said: "'One God' was revealed to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in Medina. The disbelievers of Quraysh in Mecca said: 'How can one God be sufficient for the people?' So Allah revealed: 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day and the [great] ships...' until His saying: '...are signs for a people who reason.' By this, you know that He is one God, and that He is the God of everything and the Creator of everything."
His saying, the Almighty: "Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens..." (the verse).
[6314] Abu Sa’id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, he said: "'Exalted is Allah (Subhan Allah)'—he said: 'Allah exonerating Himself from evil.' He said: Then ‘Umar said to ‘Ali while his companions were with him: 'We know "There is no god but Allah," so what is "Subhan Allah"?' ‘Ali said to him:
