‘Umar said to ‘Ali, while his companions were with him: "We know 'There is no god but Allah,' so what is 'Subhan Allah'?" ‘Ali said to him: "It is a word that Allah loved for His own Self, was pleased with, and loved that it be spoken."
[6315] My father narrated to us, Ibn Nufayl narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn ‘Arabi narrated to us, he said: A man asked Maymun ibn Mihran about 'Subhan Allah,' and he said: "It is a name through which Allah is glorified and through which He is excluded from evil."
[6316] Abu Sa’id ibn Yahya ibn Sa’id al-Qattan narrated to us, Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, Abu al-Ashhab narrated to me, from al-Hasan, he said: "'Subhan Allah' is a name that people cannot claim for themselves."
His saying, the Almighty: "The Messiah will never disdain to be a servant to Allah, nor will the angels brought near."
[The First Aspect]
[6317] My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Hisham ibn Yusuf informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from ‘Ata’, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: 'lan yastankifa' (will never disdain), he said: "He will never be arrogant." It was narrated from ‘Ata’ al-Khurasani something similar to this.
[The Second Aspect]
[6318] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray’, Sa’id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "The Messiah will never disdain to be a servant to Allah, nor will the angels brought near." He says: "The Messiah will never feel too proud to be a servant to Allah, nor will the angels brought near."
His saying, the Almighty: "Whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant—He will gather them to Himself all together."
[6319] Abu Sa’id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, from Abu Sinan, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "All together," he said: "The righteous and the wicked."
His saying, the Almighty: "And as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards."
[6320] ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Musaffa narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, Isma’il ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Kindi narrated to us, from al-A’mash regarding His saying: "He will give them in full their rewards," he said: "Their rewards: that He will enter them into Paradise."

عُمَرُ لِعَلِيٍّ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عِنْدَهُ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ قَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ فَمَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيّ:
كَلِمَةٌ أَحَبَّهَا اللَّهُ لِنَفْسِهِ وَرَضِيَهَا وَأَحَبَّ أَنْ تُقَالَ.
٦٣١٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ نُفَيْلٍ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ عَرَبِيٍّ قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ مَيْمُونَ بْنَ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، فَقَالَ: اسْمٌ يُعَظَّمُ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَيُحَاشَا بِهِ مِنَ السُّوءُ.
٦٣١٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الأَشْهَبِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ: اسْمٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ النَّاسُ أَنْ يَنْتَحِلُوهُ «١» .
قَوْلُهُ تعالى: ن يَسْتَنْكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِلَّهِ وَلا الملائكة المقربون.

٦٣١٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَنْبَأَ هشام بن يوسف، عن ابن جريج، عطاء، عن ابن عباس قوله: ستنكف
قال: لن يستكبر.
وروي عن عطاء الخرساني نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٦٣١٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قوله: ن يَسْتَنْكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِلَّهِ وَلا الْمَلائِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ
يَقُولُ: لَنْ يَحْتَشِمَ الْمَسِيحُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لله ولا الملائكة المقربين.
قوله تعالى: من يَسْتَنْكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا.
٦٣١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: ميعا
قَالَ: الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ
٦٣٢٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْكِنْدِيُّ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ قَالَ: أُجُورَهُمْ أَنْ يدخلهم الجنة.
