His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Allah does not like those who are treacherous, sinful."

[5937] Abu Muhammad ibn Bint al-Shafi'i informed us in what he wrote to me, from his father or his paternal uncle, from Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah regarding "Indeed, Allah does not like," he said: He does not bring them close.

His saying, the Almighty: "They conceal [their intentions] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from Allah, and He is with them."

[5938] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Adhrami narrated to us, Ishaq al-Azraq narrated to us, from Sharik, from Abu Ishaq—and he is al-Sabi'i—from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abd Allah, he said: Whoever performs a prayer in the presence of people but does not perform it similarly when he is alone, then that is a form of belittlement; he has belittled it and [belittled] Him. Then he recited this verse: "They conceal [their intentions] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from Allah, and He is with them while they devise at night such speech as He does not approve. And Allah ever is encompassing of what they do."

[5939] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Adhrami narrated to us, Ishaq narrated to us, from Sharik, from al-Hajari, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abd Allah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a similar [report].

[5940] Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: Then he said to those who came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, at night, concealing [the truth] with falsehood: "They conceal [their intentions] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from Allah, and He is with them."

His saying, the Almighty: "While they devise at night such speech as He does not approve."

[5941] Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A'sha, from Abu Razin regarding "While they devise at night such speech as He does not approve," he said: Meaning, while they fabricate such speech as He does not approve. It was narrated from al-Suddi similar to that.

His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah ever is encompassing of what they do."

[5942] I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Muzahim, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Encompassing of what they do," he says: His knowledge encompasses their deeds. Some of them say: It was revealed concerning the hypocrites.
