His saying, the Almighty: "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment?"

8556 - It was mentioned from 'Ali ibn Nasr, Muhammad ibn Jahdam told us, from al-Furat, from Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah regarding "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment?" He said: The requital for it in the Hereafter.

8557 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid told us, from Sa'id from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment?" meaning: Its reward.

8558 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment?" As for its fulfillment: its consequences, such as the Battle of Badr, and the Resurrection, and what He promised therein of a set time.

His saying, the Almighty: "the day its fulfillment comes"

[The first interpretation]

8559 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed me in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment? The day its fulfillment comes," he said: It is the Day of Resurrection.

8560 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi' regarding His saying: "The day its fulfillment comes," he said: A matter of its fulfillment will keep coming until the Day of Reckoning, until the people of Paradise enter Paradise and the people of Hell enter Hell; thus, its fulfillment is completed on that day.

8561 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid(1) regarding His saying: "its fulfillment" meaning: its recompense.

The second interpretation:

8562 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la al-San'ani told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding "Do they wait for anything except its fulfillment? The day its fulfillment comes," he said: Its outcome.

The third interpretation:

8563 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying: "The day its fulfillment comes," he said: Its realization. He recited the saying of Allah: "This is the fulfillment of my vision from before"(2), and he said: This is its realization. He also recited: "And no one knows its fulfillment except Allah," and he said: And no one knows its realization except Allah.
