His saying, the Almighty: "Then He established Himself above the Throne."
8576 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, from Ibn Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty: "Then He established Himself above the Throne," he said: The seventh day.
8577 - Yazid ibn Sinan al-Basri, a resident of Egypt, told us, Yazid ibn Abi Hakim told us, al-Hakam ibn Aban told me, he said: I heard 'Ikrimah saying: Indeed, Allah began the creation of the heavens and the earth and what is between them on Sunday, then He established Himself above the Throne on Friday in three hours. He created in one of those hours the suns, so that people might be inclined toward their Lord in supplication and petition, and He created in one hour the stench that befalls the son of Adam when he dies, so that he may be buried.
His saying, the Almighty: "Above the Throne"
8578 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: The Throne was only named 'Arsh (Throne) because of its height.
8579 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Abu Usamah told us, Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid told us, he said: I heard Sa'd al-Ta'i saying: The Throne is a red chrysolite.
8580 - It was read to Bahr ibn Nasr al-Khawlani al-Misri, Asad ibn Musa told us, Yusuf ibn Ziyad told us, from Ibn Ilyas, the son of the daughter of Wahb ibn Munabbih, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, he said: Indeed, Allah created the Throne from His light.
His saying, the Almighty: "He covers the night with the day"
8581 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "He covers the night with the day," he said: He covers the night, so it takes away its light.

٨٥٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ قَالَ: الْيَوْمُ السَّابِعُ.
٨٥٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ نَزِيلُ مِصْرَ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَدَأَ خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا يَوْمَ الأَحَدِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي ثَلاثِ سَاعَاتٍ، فَخَلَقَ فِي سَاعَةٍ مِنْهَا الشُّمُوسَ كَيْ يُرَغِّبَ النَّاسَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَالْمَسْأَلَةِ، وَخَلَقَ فِي سَاعَةٍ النَّتِنَ الَّذِينَ يَقَعُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ إِذَا مَاتَ لِكَيْ يُقْبَرَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: عَلَى الْعَرْشِ
٨٥٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْعَرْشُ «١» عَرْشًا لارْتِفَاعُهُ.
٨٥٧٩ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ سَعْدًا الطَّائِيَّ يَقُولُ: الْعَرْشُ يَاقُوتَةٌ حَمْرَاءُ.
٨٥٨٠ - قُرِئَ عَلَى بَحْرِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْخَوْلانِيِّ الْمِصْرِيِّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِلْيَاسَ ابْنِ ابْنَةِ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْعَرْشَ مِنْ نُورِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ
٨٥٨١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ قَالَ: يغشي الليل فيذهب بضوئه
