[His saying, the Almighty: "Verily, He does not like the transgressors."]
8595 - Muhammad ibn 'Awf al-Ta'i al-Himsi told us, Adam told us, Shu'bah told us, Ziyad ibn Mikhraq al-Basri told us, he said: I heard Qays ibn 'Abayah narrating from a freed slave of Sa'd ibn Malik that a son of Sa'd ibn Malik made a supplication and mentioned Paradise, saying: "O Allah, I ask You for its delight, its spouses, its fruits, and the like." Then he mentioned the Fire and said: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from its chains, its shackles, its scorching heat, and the like." Sa'd ibn Malik said to him: "You have indeed asked for a long delight and sought refuge from a great evil. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: 'There will be people after me who will transgress in supplication,'" and he recited this verse: "Call upon your Lord with humility and in secret. Verily, He does not like the transgressors." Then he said: "It is sufficient for you to say: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and what brings one closer to it in word and deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and what brings one closer to it in word and deed."
8596 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah told me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar told me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding: "Verily, He does not like the transgressors," he says: Do not call upon a believing man or woman with evil, saying: "O Allah, disgrace him, and curse him," and the like, for that is transgression.
8597 - My father told us, 'Abdah told us, from al-Mu'tamir, from Isma'il ibn Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman, from 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad ibn 'Alqamah, from Abu Mijlaz regarding: "Verily, He does not like the transgressors," he said: Do not ask for the stations of the Prophets.
8598 - And my father told us, Abu al-Jumahir, Sulayman ibn Shurahbil, and al-Hakam ibn Musa told us, they said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Rijal told us, from Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty: "Call upon your Lord with humility and in secret. Verily, He does not like the transgressors," he said: It used to be considered that raising one's voice in supplication is transgression.
8599 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed us, 'Uth 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father regarding: "Verily, He does not like the transgressors," he said: He does not like transgression in supplication or in anything else.
His saying, the Almighty: "And do not cause corruption upon the earth."
8600 - My father told us, Asad ibn Zayd told us, 'Amr told us—Abu Muhammad said: He is Ibn Shimr—from al-Suddi, from Abu Salih: "And do not cause corruption upon the earth after its reformation," he said: After the Prophets and their companions have reformed it.
8601 - My father told us, 'Imran ibn Musa al-Tarsusi told us, Sunayd told us, he said: It was said to Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash: What is His saying in His Book: "And do not cause corruption upon the earth after its reformation"? Abu Bakr said: Verily, Allah sent Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to the people of the earth while they were in a state of corruption, so Allah reformed them through Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Therefore, whoever calls to that which contradicts what Muhammad brought is among the corrupters upon the earth.
His saying, the Almighty: "And call upon Him in fear."
8602 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj told us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding "in fear and hope," he said: The fear is the thunderbolts.

8603 - And by the same chain from al-Dahhak regarding "in fear and hope," the hope is the rain.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good."

His saying, the Almighty: "And it is He who sends the winds."
8605 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And it is He who sends the winds as glad tidings," he said: Verily, Allah sends the winds, and they bring clouds from between the two horizons—the ends of the heaven and the earth from where they meet—then He brings them out from there, then He spreads them, and unfolds them in the heaven however He wills. Then He opens the gates of the heaven so that the water may pour onto the clouds, then the clouds rain after that.
