The settling of the ship on Al-Judi was, as the people of the Torah claim, in the seventh month, on the seventeenth night that had passed from it. On the first day of the tenth month, he saw the tops of the mountains. When forty days had passed after that, Noah, peace and blessings be upon him, opened the hatch of the ship that he had made in it. He then sent out the raven to see for him what the water had done, but it did not return to him. Then he sent out the dove, and it returned to him, for it did not find a place for its foot, so he stretched out his hand for the dove, took it, and brought it inside. He waited for seven days, then he sent it out to see for him, and it returned to him at eventide with an olive leaf in its beak, so Noah knew that the water had decreased from the surface of the earth. Then he waited for seven days, then he sent it out, and it did not return to him, so Noah knew that the earth had emerged.
