And they were insolent regarding the command of their Lord... so they slaughtered it. It used to drink their water one day, and they would drink its milk the next day. Then they slaughtered it, so the blast seized them, and Allah extinguished everyone of them under the expanse of the sky, except for one man who was in the Haram (sacred precinct) of Allah." They asked: "Who is he, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Abu Righal. When he left the Haram, what befell his people befell him."
8686 - Muhammad ibn ‘Awf al-Humsi told us, Abu al-Yaman told us, Ibn ‘Ayyash told us, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: When we arrived at al-Hijr—during the expedition of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to Tabuk—he said to us: "O people, do not ask for signs," then he mentioned it.
