Volume 5 · Page 123[Surah al-A'raf (7): Verse 79]

Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "Then he turned away from them and said, 'O my people, I have certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord.'"

8690 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Safwan told us, al-Walid told us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir told us, from Qatadah regarding the saying of Allah: "Then he turned away from them and said, 'O my people, I have certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and gave you advice,'" he said: The Prophet of Allah, Salih, made his people hear, just as, by Allah, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made his people hear.

His saying, the Almighty: "And Lot, when he said to his people."

8691 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj told us, Ishaq ibn Mansur told us, from al-Hakam ibn ‘Abd al-Malik, from Qatadah, who said: When Gabriel lifted the village of Lot, while there were four hundred thousand in it, the people of heaven heard the barking of dogs and the sounds of roosters, then he turned it upside down.

8692 - My father told us, al-Layth ibn Khalid told us, Khalid ibn Ziyad al-Tirmidhi told us, Qatadah told us, who said: There were four million people in the city of Lot, which Allah turned upside down.

8693 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Ibrahim ibn Musa told us, Ibn Abi Za’idah informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, who said: They, meaning the people of Lot, were four hundred thousand households; in every household there were ten rebels, which totals four million.

His saying, the Almighty: "Do you commit the immorality?"

8694 - Muhammad ibn Isma‘il al-Ahmasi told us, Waki‘ told us, al-Salt ibn Bahram told me, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mas‘ud al-‘Abdi, from Abu al-Mu‘tamir, or from Abu al-Juwayriyah (al-Salt was unsure), who said: ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, said on the pulpit: "Ask me." Ibn al-Kawwa’ said: "Are women approached from their backs?" ‘Ali replied: "You have debased yourself; may Allah debase you. Have you not heard His saying: 'Do you commit the immorality no one among the worlds has preceded you in?'"

8695 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "Do you commit the immorality?" He said: Meaning the posterior.

His saying, the Almighty: "No one among the worlds has preceded you in."

8696 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani told us, Musaddad told us, Isma‘il ibn ‘Ulayyah told us, who said: I heard Ibn Abi Najih saying regarding: "Do you commit the immorality no one among the worlds has preceded you in?" He said: ‘Amr ibn Dinar said: No male had ever been mounted by a male until the people of Lot.
