Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "We have certainly invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion."

8729 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "We have certainly invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it," he said: It is not appropriate for us to return to your polytheism after Allah has saved us from it.

His saying, the Almighty: "Except that Allah, our Lord, should will."

8730 - By the same chain, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Except that Allah, our Lord, should will," he said: Allah does not will polytheism, but we say: Unless Allah has known something, for He encompasses all things in knowledge.

His saying, the Almighty: "Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge."

8731 - By the same chain, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge," he says: Unless He has known something, for He has encompassed all things in knowledge.

His saying, the Almighty: "Upon Allah we have relied."

8732 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas told us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr told us, Salamah told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: And upon Allah—not upon people—let the believers rely.

His saying, the Almighty: "Our Lord, decide between us and our people with the truth."

8733 - Ahmad ibn 'Isam al-Asbahani told us, Abu Ahmad told us, Mis'ar told us, from Qatadah, he said: Ibn 'Abbas said: I did not know what His saying "Our Lord, decide [iftah] between us and our people with the truth" meant until I heard a daughter of Dhu Yazan say: "Ta'ala afatihki" (Come, let me judge against you), meaning: Come, let me dispute with you.

8734 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Our Lord, decide between us and our people with the truth," he says: Judge between us and our people with the truth.

8735 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "The earthquake [al-rajfah]," he said: The shriek [al-sayhah].
