8793 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yazid ibn Harun told us—and the wording is that of Muhammad ibn Asbagh ibn Zayd al-Warraq—from al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub, Sa'id ibn Jubayr told me, from Ibn 'Abbas: They said to him, meaning to Pharaoh: Gather the magicians, for they are numerous in your land, so that you may prevail through their magic. Thus he sent to the cities and gathered for him every learned magician.

8797 - My father told us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah told us, Jarir told us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Khaythamah, from Abu Sawdah, from Ka'b, he said: The magicians of Pharaoh were twelve thousand.
The third interpretation:
8798 - It was mentioned from Zakariyya ibn Yahya al-Kasa'i, Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash told us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Abu Sawdah, from Ka'b, he said: The magicians of Pharaoh were nineteen thousand.
