8804 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Jarir told us, from Ya'qub, from Ja'far, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The staff of Moses was called Masa, and it is with Joshua ibn Nun.

His saying, the Almighty: "And behold, it swallowed up."

8805 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid al-Wasiti told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yazid ibn Harun told us, from Asbagh ibn Zayd, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub, Sa'id ibn Jubayr told me, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: By the prayer of Moses, the staff began to entangle with the ropes, then it became a ravenous serpent, moving until it entered into them, until no staff or rope remained that it did not swallow.

8806 - It was mentioned from Wahb ibn Jarir, from Qurrah ibn Khalid, from al-Hasan regarding: "And behold, it swallowed up what they were falsifying," he said: It snatched their ropes and their staves.

His saying, the Almighty: "What they were falsifying."

8807 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1): His saying: "falsifying" means lying.

His saying, the Almighty: "So the truth was established."

8808 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yazid ibn Harun told us, from Asbagh ibn Zayd, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub, Sa'id ibn Jubayr told me, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "So the truth was established," he said: The truth appeared. A similar report is narrated from Mujahid.

His saying, the Almighty: "And what they were doing was nullified."

8809 - And by the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And what they were doing was nullified," he said: They were defeated there and turned back humbled; so Allah broke the back of Pharaoh and his followers at that scene.

His saying, the Almighty: "And the magicians fell down in prostration."

8810 - It was mentioned from Sa'id ibn Salam, Isma'il ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Salman told us, from Salim al-Aftas, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding: "And the magicians fell down in prostration," he said: They saw their dwellings being built for them while they were in their prostration.
