8328 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad told us, Hafs ibn 'Umar al-'Adani told us, al-Hakam ibn Aban told us, from 'Ikrimah, regarding [the command] "And give the Zakah," he said: The Zakah of wealth is five dirhams for every two hundred dirhams.

8329 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad told us, Adam told us, al-Mubarak ibn Fadalah told us, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "And give the Zakah," he said: It is an obligatory duty; deeds are not accepted without it, along with prayer. Something similar was narrated from Qatadah.

And the third view:

8330 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah told us, Jarir told us, from Abu Hayyan al-Tamimi, from al-Harith al-'Ukli, regarding His saying: "And give the Zakah," he said: [It refers to] Sadaqat al-Fitr (charity of breaking the fast).

And the fourth view:

8331 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf told us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying to the People of the Scripture: "And give the Zakah," He ordered them to give the Zakah, paying it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: "And those who believe in Our verses"

8332 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas told us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And those who believe in Our verses," he said: The Jews and the Christians coveted it, so Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, revealed a firm and clear condition, saying: "Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet."

8333 - My father told us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah told us, Jarir told us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "So I will ordain it for those who fear Me, and give the Zakah... [and] those who follow Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." And something similar was narrated from Qatadah.

His saying, the Almighty: "The unlettered [Prophet]"

8334 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "The Messenger, the unlettered Prophet," he said: It is your Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace; he was unlettered and did not write.
