The Second Aspect:
8400 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: The Salwa is a bird similar to the quail (al-summani) that they used to eat from.
The Third Aspect:
8401 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Safwan ibn Salih told us, al-Walid told us, Sa'id ibn Bashir informed me, from Qatadah regarding his saying: "And the Salwa"—he said: The Salwa was a bird tending toward a reddish color, which the southern wind would drive toward them. One of them would slaughter an amount of it that sufficed for his day. If he exceeded that, it would spoil and not remain with him, until the sixth day, the day of Friday, when he would take what sufficed him for his sixth day and his seventh day, because it was a day of worship in which he would not set out for anything nor seek it.
The Fourth Aspect:
8402 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim al-San'ani told us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil told me that he heard Wahb ibn Munabbih saying, and he was asked what the Salwa was, and he said: A fat bird like a pigeon, and it would come to them, and they would take from it from one Sabbath to the next.
His saying, the Almighty: "Eat of the good things We have provided you."
8403 - Yunus ibn Habib told us, Abu Dawud told us, Abu 'Amir al-Khazzaz told us, from al-Hasan regarding Allah's saying: "Eat of the good things We have provided you"—he said: It does not mean He has not mentioned the smallest or the reddest of them, but He said: They desist at His lawful (halal). It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar.
His saying, the Almighty: "And they did not wrong Us."
8404 - Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Wasiti told us, Muhammad ibn Bashir al-Wa'iz told us, 'Amr ibn 'Atiyyah told us, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "And they did not wrong Us"—he said: We are too mighty to be wronged.
His saying, the Almighty: "But they were wronging themselves."
8405 - My father told us, Musa ibn Isma'il told us, Mubarak told us, from al-Hasan who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "There is no one who loves praise more than Allah, and there is no one who provides more excuses than Allah. He punished a nation for their sins, then He offered excuses to the believers, saying: 'And We did not wrong them, but they were wronging themselves.'"
