[Continuation of Surah Al-An'am]

His saying: "And they said, 'What is in the bellies of these grazing livestock'"

7933 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us, in what he wrote to me: My father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding his saying: "And they said, 'What is in the bellies of these grazing livestock is exclusively for our males'"—he means the milk. They used to forbid it to their females and make their males drink it. When a sheep gave birth to a male, they would slaughter it, so it was for the men to the exclusion of the women. And if it was a female, it was left and not slaughtered.

Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us, in what he wrote to me: Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: Regarding his saying: "And they said, 'What is in the bellies of these grazing livestock'"—these are the livestock; what is born from them alive.

His saying: "Exclusively"

7934 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, al-Muqaddami told us, Husayn ibn Numayr told us, Sufyan ibn Husayn told us:

"They said, 'What is in the bellies of these grazing livestock is exclusively'"—he said: Exclusively for our spouses.

His saying: "For our males"

7935 - My father told us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Sabah told us, Abu 'Ali 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Majid al-Hanafi told us, Isra'il told us, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Hudhayl, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding the saying of Allah: "What is in the bellies of these grazing livestock is exclusively for our males"—he said: The milk.

7936 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "These grazing livestock are exclusively for our males"—he said: The Sa'ibah and the Bahirah.

7937 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us, in what he wrote to me: Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: Regarding his saying: "Exclusively for our males"—it is exclusively for the men to the exclusion of the women.

His saying: "And forbidden to our spouses"

7938 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: Regarding his saying: "And forbidden to our spouses"—he said: The women. It was narrated from al-Suddi and Qatadah similar to that.
