Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "And We divided them"

8478 - Abu Usamah told us, Yahya ibn Ziyad told us, Ya'qub al-Qummi told us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And We divided them into nations in the earth"—they are the Jews, Allah spread them across the earth, so there is no spot on earth but that there is a band and a group of them in it.

8479 - It was mentioned from Muhammad ibn al-Salt, Ya'qub told us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And We divided them into nations in the earth"—he said: He dispersed them in every manner of dispersion, and He placed in every province a group of them, meaning the Jews.

His saying, the Almighty: "Into nations in the earth"

8480 - Hajjaj told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Nations"—he said: Jews. It has been narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr similarly.

[His saying, the Almighty: "Some of them are righteous"]

[The first interpretation]

8481 - My father told us, Abu Hudhayfah told us, Shibl told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Some of them are righteous"—they are the Muslims among the People of the Scripture.

The second interpretation:

8482 - It was mentioned from Abu Dawud al-Hafari, Ya'qub told us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id regarding His saying: "Some of them are righteous"—he said: They are from the nation of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: "And some of them are otherwise"

[The first interpretation]

8483 - My father told us, Abu Hudhayfah told us, Shibl told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding: "And some of them are otherwise"—he said: The Jews.

The second interpretation:

8483 - It was mentioned from Abu Dawud al-Hafari, Ya'qub told us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id regarding His saying: "And some of them are otherwise"—he said: Those who did not believe in Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
