The second interpretation:
8492 - My father told us, Abu Sa'id al-'Attar 'Amr ibn Abi 'Arafah told us, Abu Ghassan told us, Asbat told us, from Nasr, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Then there came after them successors who inherited the Book," he said: They are from the Children of Israel, and their likes from this nation, the Murji'ah.
The third interpretation:
8493 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "Then there came after them successors," he said: The Christians.
The fourth interpretation:
8494 - It was mentioned from 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Khaffaf, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding "Then there came after them successors," meaning the Jews and the Christians.
His saying, the Almighty: "Who inherited the Book"
8495 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding "Then there came after them successors," he said: Yes, by Allah, evil successors who inherited the Book after their prophets and messengers. Allah bequeathed the Book to them and made a covenant with them.
8496 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh told us, he said: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding His saying: "Then there came after them successors who inherited the Book," he said: These are the Jews; they wrote a book with which they opposed the Book of Allah, called the 'Mathnat' (Mishnah), wherein the one who is correct in it is incorrect in the Torah, and the one who is incorrect in it is correct in the Torah.
His saying, the Almighty: "They take the goods of this lower life"
8497 - Usayd ibn 'Asim told us, al-Husayn ibn Hafs told us, Sufyan told us, from Mansur, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr and Ibrahim, they both said: "They take the goods of this lower life," they both said: Sins.
8498 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "They take the goods of this lower life," he said: Whatever presents itself to them in the day of worldly things, whether lawful or unlawful, they desire it and take it, and they hope for forgiveness, and if they find the next day the like of it, they take it.

٨٤٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْعَطَّارُ عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي عَرَفَةَ ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا أَسْبَاطُ، عَنْ نَصْرٍ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ قَالَ: هُمْ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَشْبَاهُهُمْ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ الْمُرْجِئَةُ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:
٨٤٩٣ - ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عن ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بعدهم خلف قَالَ: النَّصَارَى.
الْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:
٨٤٩٤ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْخَفَّافِ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خلف يَعْنِي الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابُ
٨٤٩٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فَخَلَفَ من بعدهم خلف أَيْ وَاللَّهِ لَخَلَفِ سُوءٍ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ بَعْدَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ وَرُسُلِهِمْ، أَوْرَثَهُمُ اللَّهُ الْكِتَابَ وَعَهِدَ إِلَيْهِمْ.
٨٤٩٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ زَيْدِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ قَالَ: هَؤُلاءِ الْيَهُودُ كَتَبُوا كِتَابًا ضَادُّوا بِهِ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْمَثْنَاةُ الْمُحِقُّ فِيهَا مُبْطِلٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ، وَالْمُبْطِلُ فِيهَا مُحِقٌّ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَذَا الْأَدْنَى
٨٤٩٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالا: يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَذَا الأَدْنَى قَالا: الذُّنُوبَ
٨٤٩٨ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلُهُ: يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَذَا الأَدْنَى قَالَ: مَا أَشْرَفَ لَهُمْ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَلالٍ أَوْ حَرَامٍ يَشْتَهُونَهُ أَخَذُوهُ، وَيَتَمَنَّونَ الْمَغْفِرَةَ وَإِنْ يَجِدُوا الْغَدَ مِثْلَهُ يأخذونه «١» .
