His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, We do not allow the reward of the reformers to be lost."
8514 - My father told us, Sa'id ibn Sulayman al-Nashiti told us, Abu al-Ashhab told us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Indeed, We do not allow the reward of the reformers to be lost," he said: It is for the people of faith among them.
His saying, the Almighty: "And when We uprooted the mountain above them"
8515 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid al-Wasiti told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yazid ibn Harun told us—the wording is that of Muhammad—from Asbagh ibn Zayd al-Warraq, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub, Sa'id ibn Jubayr told me, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: Then Moses traveled with them, heading toward the Sacred Land, and he took the tablets after his anger had subsided. He commanded them with the duties that Allah had commanded him to convey to them, but they found them burdensome and refused to acknowledge them, until Allah uprooted the mountain above them as if it were a canopy, and it drew near to them until they feared it would fall upon them.
8516 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih ibn 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah told me, from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "And when We uprooted the mountain above them," he says: And We raised the Mount [al-Tur] above them because of their covenant.(1)
'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Hammad told us, Mihran told us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And when We uprooted the mountain above them as if it were a canopy," he said: The angels raised it above their heads.
8517 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah mentioned, Hajjaj told us, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: 'Ata' said to me: This mountain, Mount Tur, is the one that was raised over the Children of Israel.
8518 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah mentioned it, Hajjaj told us, from Ibn Jurayj, Ibn Kathir informed us, from Mujahid, he said: "We uprooted [nataqna]," he said: It came out as butter comes out, as you uproot [or extract/churn] the butter.
His saying, the Almighty: "As if it were a canopy"
8519 - My father told us, 'Ali ibn Maymun told us, Khalid ibn Habban told us, from Ja'far ibn Burqan, from Thabit ibn al-Hajjaj regarding the saying of Allah: "As if it were a canopy," he said: The Torah came to them all at once, and it felt burdensome to them, so they refused to accept it until Allah overshadowed them with the mountain, and they accepted it at that point.
