[His saying: "What is apparent of them."]

[The First Aspect]

8066 - My father told us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And do not approach immoralities—what is apparent of them and what is concealed," he said: "In the Jahiliyyah, they did not see any harm in fornication in secret, yet they considered it shameful in public; so Allah forbade fornication in both secret and public." It was also narrated from 'Ata', from 'Ikrimah, Abu Salih, 'Ali ibn Husayn, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and al-Suddi something similar.

The Second Aspect:

8067 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan told us, Ibrahim ibn Tahman told us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "The immoralities—what is apparent of them," he said: "Marrying mothers and daughters." It was also narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr something similar.

The Third Aspect:

8068 - My father told us, Abu Ghassan told us, Qays told us, from Khusayf, from Mujahid: "As for what is apparent of them, it is His saying: 'And do not marry those whom your fathers married,' and His saying: 'And [you may not] collect [in marriage] two sisters [simultaneously].'"

The Fourth Aspect:

8069 - It was mentioned from Rawh ibn 'Ubadah, 'Uthman ibn Ghiyath told us, from 'Ikrimah: "What is apparent of them: oppression—oppressing the people."

The Fifth Aspect:

8070 - My father told us, 'Amr ibn Rafi' told us, Ibn al-Mubarak told us, from Yunus, from al-Zuhri, regarding His saying: "The immoralities—what is apparent of them," he said: "Nudity; they used to circumambulate the House [the Kaaba] naked."

His saying, exalted be He: "And what is concealed."

8071 - My father told us, Ibrahim ibn Musa told us, Hisham ibn Yusuf informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, 'Ata' told me, from Ibn 'Abbas: "The immoralities—what is apparent of them and what is concealed," he said: "What is concealed is the secret.". It was also narrated from 'Ikrimah, Qatadah, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and al-Suddi something similar.

٨٠٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَوْلُهُ: وَلا تَقْرَبُوا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ قَالَ: كَانُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يَرَوْنَ بِالزِّنَا بَأْسًا فِي السِّرِّ، وَيَسْتَقْبِحُونَهُ فِي الْعَلانِيَةِ، فَحَرَّمَ اللَّهُ الزِّنَا فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلانِيَةِ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَأَبِي صَالِحٍ وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٨٠٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ:

الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا قَالَ: نِكَاحُ الأُمَّهَاتِ وَالْبَنَاتِ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:

٨٠٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا قَيْسٌ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: أَمَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا فَقَوْلُهُ: وَلا تَنْكِحُوا مَا نَكَحَ آبَاؤُكُمْ، وَقَوْلُهُ: وَأَنْ تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الأُخْتَيْنِ.

الْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:

٨٠٦٩ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ: مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا:

الظُّلْمُ ظَلَمُ النَّاسِ.

الْوَجْهُ الْخَامِسُ:

٨٠٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا، قَالَ: الْعُرْي، وَكَانُوا يَطُوفُونَ بِالْبَيْتِ عُرَاةً

قَوْلُهُ تعالى: وما بطن.

٨٠٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى أنا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ، قَالَ: مَا بَطَنَ السِّرُّ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَقَتَادَةَ وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
