Translation · EN

His statement, the Exalted: "Say: Its knowledge is only with Allah" – up to the end of the verse.

8622 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed me, in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, my father told me, from my grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: When the people asked Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the Hour, they asked him with the questioning of a people who seemingly thought that Muhammad was indulgent towards them. So Allah (Almighty and Majestic is He) revealed to him: "Say: Its knowledge is only with Allah," for He has kept its knowledge to Himself, so no angel or messenger has been made cognizant of it.

His statement, the Exalted: "Say: I possess no power to bring benefit or prevent harm to myself except as Allah wills."

8623 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah told us, Shibl told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "Say: I possess no power to bring benefit or prevent harm to myself," [meaning] astray, "except as Allah wills."

His statement, the Exalted: "And if I knew the unseen."

8625 - Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Qasim ibn 'Atiyyah narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Dawud ibn Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir told us, 'Abd al-Razzaq told us, al-Thawri informed us, from Mansur, from Mujahid, regarding His statement: "And if I knew the unseen, I would have acquired much wealth," he said: Had I known when I would die, I would have done righteous deeds.

His statement, the Exalted: "I would have acquired much wealth."

8626 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Imran ibn Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His statement: "And if I knew the unseen, I would have acquired much wealth," [meaning] from money.
