8628 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the statement of Allah: "And no evil would have touched me," he said: I would have avoided whatever evil was going to happen before it happened, and I would have protected myself from it.
His statement, the Exalted: "I am not but a warner."
8629 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salih told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd Allah al-Fazari told us, from Shayban al-Nahwi, Qatadah informed us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: His statement, "a warner," he said: A warner against the Fire.
His statement, the Exalted: "And a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
8630 - And through this chain, from Ibn 'Abbas: His statement, "and a bringer of good tidings," he said: He brought tidings of Paradise.
His statement, the Exalted: "It is He who created you from one soul."
8631 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, "created you from one soul," he said: He means Adam (peace be upon him). It was narrated from Mujahid, Abu Malik, Qatadah, al-Suddi, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan similarly.
His statement, the Exalted: "And created from it its mate."
8632 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, "and created from it its mate," he said: He created Hawwa' (Eve) from Adam from the posterior rib, and it is from the lowest of the ribs. It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan and Qatadah similarly.

8633 - My father narrated to us, Muqatil ibn Muhammad told us, Waki' told us, from Abu Hilal, from Qatadah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his statement: "from it its mate," he said: The woman was created from the man, so her inclination was placed in the man; and the man was created from the earth, so his inclination was placed in the earth, so restrain your women.
8634 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his statement: "from it its mate," he said: Hawwa' from the short rib of Adam while he was asleep. So he woke up and said: "Aththa?" – which in Nabataean means "a woman."
And it was narrated from al-Suddi, Qatadah, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan that she is Hawwa'.
