Translation · EN

8642 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah told us, from Shibl, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His statement: "And she continued with it," he said: She persisted with her pregnancy. Similar to this was narrated from al-Hasan, Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, and al-Suddi.

And the second interpretation:

8643 - [Name omitted] narrated to us, Mansur ibn Abi Muzahim told us, Abu Sa'id (meaning Ibn Abi al-Waddah) told us, from 'Amr ibn Maymun ibn Mihran, from his father, regarding His statement: "And she continued with it," he said: She made it light.

His statement, the Exalted: "Then when she became heavy."

8644 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn 'A'ishah told us, 'Abd al-Wahid told us, Salim ibn Abi Hafsah told us, he said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr saying regarding this verse: "Then when she became heavy, they both called upon Allah, their Lord: 'If You grant us a righteous child.'" He said: Adam, Hawwa', and Iblis were sent down to the earth. He said: Adam approached his wife and desire arose in his soul, so he stood up to her and had intercourse with her, and she became pregnant while she did not know. Her belly began to grow. She said to Adam: "What is this for which my belly has grown so large?" He said: Iblis heard that and said to her: "You have become pregnant, and you will give birth."

His statement, the Exalted: "They both called upon Allah, their Lord."

8645 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah told us, Asbat ibn Nasr told us, from al-Suddi: "Then when she became heavy, they both called upon Allah, their Lord," the child grew in her belly. Iblis came to her and frightened her, saying: "How do you know what is in your belly? Is it a dog, a pig, or a donkey? And how do you know from where it will exit? Will it come from your posterior and kill you, or from your anterior and your belly split open and kill you?" That is when they called upon Allah, their Lord.

8646 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad told us, 'Abd al-Wahid told us, Salim ibn Abi Hafsah told us, he said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr saying regarding this verse: "They both called upon Allah, their Lord: 'If You grant us a righteous child.'" Iblis heard that and said to her: "You have become pregnant, and you will give birth." She said: "And what will I give birth to?" He said: "Something like what you see—a camel, a cow, a ewe, or a goat." He said: That is the meaning of His statement: "They both called upon Allah, their Lord: 'If You grant us a righteous child,'" [this was] when Iblis frightened them regarding [it being] a camel, a cow, a ewe, or a goat."
