8703 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir told us, Husayn ibn 'Ali ibn Hasan ibn Abi al-Hasan al-Barrad told us, from Abu Mawdud, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding His statement: "And their brothers extend them in error," he says: They are from the jinn. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas and 'Abd Allah ibn Kathir something similar.
His statement, the Exalted: "...extend them"

8704 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Asbahani and 'Ubaydah told us: Ibn al-Mubarak reported to us, from 'Uthman ibn 'Ata, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "And their brothers extend them in error," [he said]: They incite them. It was narrated from 'Ata al-Khurasani similar to that.
And the second aspect:
8705 - Muhammad ibn Sa'id informed me in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my paternal uncle al-Husayn told me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His statement: "And their brothers extend them in error," he said: They are the jinn who inspire their allies among mankind.
8706 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibn Abi Hammad told us, Mihran told us, from Sufyan regarding: "And their brothers extend them in error," he said: Their saying to him, "Why did you not do such and such?"
8707 - My father narrated to us, 'Abdah told us, Ibn al-Mubarak reported to us via reading, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ibn Kathir regarding "extend them," he said: The extension (al-madd) is increase.

8708 - Hajjaj narrated to us, Shababah told us, Warqa told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1), regarding His statement: "extend them in error," [he said]: misguidance.

8709 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: His statement, "then they do not stop," he said: Mankind does not stop from the evil deeds they commit, nor do the devils refrain from them.

٨٧٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ وَعُبَيْدَةُ قَالا: أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عُثْمَانُ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ يَؤُزُّونَهُمْ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٨٧٠٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ قَالَ: هُمُ الْجِنُّ يُوحُونَ إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ مِنَ الإِنْسِ.
٨٧٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ، ثنا مِهْرَانُ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ قَالَ: قَوْلُهُمْ لَهُ لَوْلا فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا.
٨٧٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدَةُ أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قِرَاءَةً عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ ابْنِ كَثِيرٍ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ قَالَ: الْمُدُّ الزِّيَادَةُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فِي الْغَيِّ
٨٧٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١»
قَوْلُهُ: يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ اسْتِجْهَالاً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ثُمَّ لا يقصرون

٨٧٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَوْلُهُ: ثُمَّ لَا يَقْصُرُونَ قَالَ: لَا يَقْصُرُونَ الإِنْسُ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ مِنَ السيئات، ولا الشياطين تمسك عنهم.
