Translation · EN

His statement, the Exalted: "And a mercy for a people who believe."

8724 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam told us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi told us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His statement: "And a mercy," he said: Its mercy is the Qur'an.

8725 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah told us, from Hajjaj, from 'Atiyyah, from Abu Sa'id regarding his statement: "And a mercy," he said: Its mercy is that He made you among the people of the Qur'an.

His statement, the Exalted: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention."

[The first aspect]

8726 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazyad narrated to us, my father informed me, he said: I heard al-Awza'i, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amir told me, Zayd ibn Aslam told me, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah regarding this verse: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention," he said: It was revealed concerning raising voices while they were behind the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the prayer.

8727 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Ibn Wahb informed us, Abu Sakhr told us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi: He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to recite in the prayer, and whoever was behind him would respond to him. When he said "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful," they would say the same as he said until the Fatihah and the surah were completed. He would then remain silent for as long as Allah willed him to remain silent. Then it was revealed: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy," so he recited: "and pay attention."

8728 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid told us, from al-Hajari, from Abu 'Iyad, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: They used to speak during the prayer, then it was revealed: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy." This is regarding the prayer.

8729 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Quta'i told us, Muhammad ibn Bakr told us, from 'Imran Abu al-'Awwam, from 'Asim, from Abu Wa'il, that Ibn Mas'ud greeted the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, but he did not return the greeting to him. When he finished, he (the Prophet) said: "Indeed, Allah does whatever He wills." He used to speak in his prayer before that and command (others) regarding his needs. When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, finished, he returned the greeting to him and said: "It was revealed: 'So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy.'"
