8788 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj informed us, Salama narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Regarding what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad, the freed slave of Zayd ibn Thabit, narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas—Allah, Glorified and Praised be He, says: "Those who establish prayer," meaning: They establish the prayer by observing its obligatory requirements.
8789 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahhab ibn 'Ata' al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah: "Establish the prayer," [He means]: Establishing the prayer is maintaining its proper times, its ablution, its bowing, and its prostration.
8790 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, he said: Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf informed us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "Those who establish prayer," [he said]: Establishing it is maintaining its proper times, performing the ablution thoroughly for it, perfecting its bowing and prostration, reciting the Qur'an during it, the tashahhud, and invoking blessings upon the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—this is its establishment.
His saying, the Almighty: "And from what We have provided them, they spend"
[The First Aspect]
8791 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And from what We have provided them, they spend," he says: It is the zakat of their wealth.
The Second Aspect:
8792 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "And from what We have provided them, they spend," [he said]: This is a man's spending on his family, and this was before the zakat was enjoined.
The Third Aspect:
8793 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah: "And from what We have provided them, they spend," [he said]: Spend from what Allah has given you, for these riches are only loaned goods and deposits with you, O son of Adam; you are about to depart from them.
His saying, the Almighty: "Those are the believers, truly"
8794 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Those are the believers, truly," [he said]: They have been absolved of disbelief.
