8826 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn al-Rabi' narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us from Ibn Ishaq: "[Remember] when you were asking your Lord for help," meaning the supplication of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and the Muslims with him.
His saying, the Almighty: "So He answered you, [saying], 'I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels.'"
8827 - Yazid ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Abu Zumayl narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas narrated to us, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab narrated to us, he said: When it was the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) looked at the polytheists, while he and his companions were three hundred and nineteen men. He turned toward the Qiblah, then he stretched out his hands and began to call out to his Lord. So Allah, the Almighty, revealed: "[Remember] when you were asking your Lord for help, so He answered you, [saying], 'I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, rank upon rank.'" Thus, Allah reinforced him with the angels.
His saying, the Almighty: "Rank upon rank."
8828 - My father narrated to us, Muqatil ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us from Sufyan, from Harun ibn 'Antarah, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Rank upon rank," he said: "Following one another." It was also narrated from Qatadah, Abu Malik, Muhammad ibn Ka'b, al-Suddi, al-Dahhak, and 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam the like of that.
8829 - My father narrated to us, Hilal ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Suhayd al-'Ayshi narrated to us, Abu Hilal al-Rasibi narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from al-Sha'bi, he said: There were a thousand "following one another" (murdifin) and three thousand "sent down" (munzalin), so they were four thousand, and they were the reinforcement of the Muslims in their border outposts.
His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah made it not but as good tidings."
8830 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And Allah made it not but as good tidings," he said: Allah only created them so they could receive good news through them.
His saying, the Almighty: "And so that your hearts might be assured thereby."
8831 - And by the same chain from Mujahid: "And so that your hearts might be assured thereby," meaning: that you might find reassurance through it.
His saying, the Almighty: "And victory is not but from Allah."
8832 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And victory is not but from Allah," meaning: it is not but from Me; it is not but by My authority and My power. This is because honor and judgment belong to Me, not to any of My creation.
٨٨٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ أَيْ دُعَاءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ مَعَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُمْ بِأَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ
٨٨٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ: لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ نَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ، وَهُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ ثَلاثُمِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ رَجُلاً فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ، ثُمَّ مَدَّ يَدَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يَهْتِفُ بِرَبِّهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُمْ بِأَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ فَأَمَدَّهُ اللَّهُ بِالْمَلائِكَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: مُرْدِفِينَ
٨٨٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا مُقَاتِلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ عَنْتَرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: مُرْدِفِينَ قَالَ: مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ، وَرُوِيَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَأَبِي مَالِكٍ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ:
نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
٨٨٢٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سهيد الْعَيْشِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلالٍ الرَّاسِبِيُّ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ: كَانَ أَلْفٌ مُرْدِفِينَ وَثَلاثَةُ آلافٍ مُنْزَلِينَ، فَكَانُوا أَرْبَعَةَ آلافٍ، وَهُمْ مَدَدُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي ثُغُورِهِمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلا بُشْرَى
٨٨٣٠ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلَهُ: وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلا بُشْرَى قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جَعَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ لِيَسْتَبْشِرُوا بِهِمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِ قُلُوبُكُمْ
٨٨٣١ - وَبِهِ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِ قُلُوبُكُمْ تَطْمَئِنُّوا إِلَيْهِ.
٨٨٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا زُنَيْجٌ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ إِلا مِنْ عِنْدِي، إِلا بِسُلْطَانِي وَقُدْرَتِي، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْعِزَّ وَالْحُكْمَ إِلَيَّ لَا إِلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِي.
