His saying, the Almighty: 'And if you cease, it is better for you.'
8924 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And if you cease'—i.e., you, Quraysh—'it is better for you.'
8925 - It was mentioned from 'Amr al-'Anqazi, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And if you cease, it is better for you,' he said: If you cease from fighting Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His saying, the Almighty: 'And if you return, We will return.'
8926 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And if you return, We will return,' i.e., with the likes of the event that befell you on the day of Badr.
8927 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman al-Awdi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And if you return, We will return,' he says: If you seek a judgment a second time, I will grant a judgment for Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His saying, the Almighty: 'And your group will not avail you anything, even if it is numerous.'
8928 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And your group will not avail you anything,' i.e., even if your number is numerous in your own estimation, it will not avail you anything.
His saying, the Almighty: 'And that Allah is with the believers.'
8929 - And by the same chain, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And that Allah is with the believers,' [He says:] And I am with the believers, granting them victory over those who oppose them.
8930 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And that Allah is with the believers,' [He is] with Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and his companions, may Allah be pleased with them.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِنْ تَنْتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ
٨٩٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو زُنَيْجٌ ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَإِنْ تَنْتَهُوا أَيْ لِقُرَيْشٍ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ.
٨٩٢٥ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو الْعَنْقَزِيِّ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَإِنْ تَنْتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ قَالَ: إِنْ تَنْتَهُوا عَنْ قِتَالِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ
٨٩٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَإِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ أَيْ بِمِثْلِ الْوَاقِعَةِ الَّتِي أَصَابَكُمْ بِهَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ.
٨٩٢٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الأَوْدِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَإِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ يَقُولُ: إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا الثَّانِيَةَ أَفْتَحُ لِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ
٨٩٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا أَيْ وَإِنْ كَثُرَ عَدَدُكُمْ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ لَمْ يُغْنِ عَنْكُمْ شَيْئًا
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
٨٩٢٩ - وبِهِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنَا مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنْصُرُهُمْ عَلَى مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ.
٨٩٣٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ- إِلَيَّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطُ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَعَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ.
