9124 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: "But Allah saved [the situation]", meaning: He completed [the task].

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, He is Knowing of that which is within the breasts."

9125 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, [regarding] His saying: "Knowing of that which is within the breasts", [meaning] what is in their hearts.

9126 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, [who] said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Knowing of that which is within the breasts", meaning: that which is in their breasts of what they concealed from you is not hidden from Him.

His saying, the Almighty: "And when He showed them to you when you met as few in your eyes."

9127 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Ubaydah, from Abd Allah, [who] said: We were made to see them as few in our eyes on the day of Badr, until I said to a man next to me: "Do you see them as seventy?" He said: "No, rather they are a hundred," until we took a man from them and asked him; he said: "We were a thousand."

9128 - My father narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from al-Zubayr ibn al-Khirrit, from Ikrimah, [regarding] "And when He showed them to you when you met as few in your eyes, and [He] made you [appear as] few in their eyes", he said: He incited some of them against others.

His saying, the Almighty: "And [He] made you [appear as] few in their eyes", the verse.

9129 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, [who] said: Yahya ibn Abbad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from his father: So that which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, showed them of that was a blessing from Allah upon them, [by which] He encouraged them against their enemy and averted from them by it what He feared for them of their weakness, for His knowledge of what was within them. "And when He showed them to you when you met as few in your eyes, and [He] made you [appear as] few in their eyes, so that Allah might accomplish a matter that was [already] ordained," meaning: so that there would be reconciliation among them for the war in order to take vengeance upon whoever He wanted to take vengeance from, and to bestow favor upon whoever He wanted to perfect His favor upon from among the people of His guardianship.

His saying, the Almighty: "O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [of the enemy], stand firm."

9130 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn Abbad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from his father, [who] said: Then He exhorted them and gave them understanding.

٩١٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ أَيْ أَتَمَّ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

٩١٢٥ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُوسَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ بِمَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ.

٩١٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ أَيْ لَا يَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِمَّا اسَتَخْفُوا بِهِ مِنْكُمْ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلا

٩١٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: لَقَدْ قُلِّلُوا فِي أَعْيُنِنَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ حَتَّى قُلْتُ لِرَجُلٍ إِلَى جَنْبِي: تُرَاهُمْ سَبْعِينَ؟ قَالَ: لَا، بَلْ هُمْ مِائَةٌ، حَتَّى أَخَذْنَا رَجُلاً مِنْهُمْ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ قَالَ:

كُنَّا أَلْفًا.

٩١٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عن الزبير ابن خِرِّيتٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِهِمْ قَالَ:

حَضَّضَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ في أعينهم الْآيَةَ.

٩١٢٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: ثنا يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، فَكَانَ مَا أَرَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ نِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ شَجَّعَهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى عَدُوِّهِمْ وَكَفَّ بِهَا عَنْهُمْ مَا تَخَوَّفَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ ضَعْفِهِمْ لَعِلْمِهِ بِمَا فِيهِمْ وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِي أعينهم لِيَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولاً أَيْ لِيُؤَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ عَلَى الْحَرْبِ لِلْنِقْمَةِ مِمَّنْ أَرَادَ الانْتِقَامَ مِنْهُ وَالإِنْعَامِ عَلَى مَنْ أَرَادَ تَمَامَ النِّعْمَةِ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ وِلايَتِهِ.
