His saying, the Almighty: "And do not dispute and [thus] you will lose heart"
9870 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah [regarding] "And do not dispute..." the verse. He says: Do not differ, lest you become weak and your victory depart.
9137 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us - in what he wrote to me - Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam informed us regarding the saying of Allah: "And do not dispute and [thus] you will lose heart and your strength would depart." He said: "Al-fashal" (losing heart) is weakness in jihad against one's enemy and being broken before them; that is "al-fashal".
His saying, the Almighty: "And your strength would depart"
9138 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And your strength would depart," [it refers to] the strength of the companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when they disputed with him on the day of Badr.
9139 - Amr ibn Thawr al-Qaysari informed us - in what he wrote to me - al-Firyabi narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And your strength would depart," [meaning] your victory. The strength of the companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, departed when they disputed with him on the day of Uhud.
9140 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah: "And your strength would depart," he said: The strength of war.
9141 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from his father: "And your strength would depart," meaning: your fortune would depart.
9142 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us - in what he wrote to me - Asbagh narrated to us, Ibn Zayd narrated to us regarding the saying of Allah: "And your strength would depart." He said: The "strength" is victory. There was never a victory except with strength—a strength that Allah sends, striking the faces of the enemy, and when that happens, they have no standing.
His saying, the Almighty: "And be patient"
9143 - Yunus ibn Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Ibn Wahb informed us, Abu Sakhr al-Madini informed us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, that he used to say: "And be patient," he says: Be patient in your religion.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا
٩٨٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ولا تنازعوا الآية. يقول: لا تختلفوا فتجنبوا وَيَذْهَبَ نَصْرُكُمْ.
٩١٣٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- حَدَّثَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَلا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ قَالَ: الْفَشَلُ: الضَّعْفُ عَنْ جِهَادِ عَدُوِّهِ، وَالانْكِسَارِ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ الْفَشَلُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ
٩١٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثنا شِبْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ رِيحُ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ نَازَعُوهُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ.
٩١٣٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ ثَوْرٍ الْقَيْسَارِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ نَصَرُكُمْ فَذَهَبَتْ رِيحُ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ نَازَعُوهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ.
٩١٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ قَالَ: رِيحُ الْحَرْبِ.
٩١٤١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ أَيْ وَيَذْهَبَ جَدُّكُمْ.
٩١٤٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا أَصْبَغُ ثنا ابْنُ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ قَالَ: الرِّيحُ النَّصْرُ، لَمْ يَكُنْ نَصْرٌ قَطُّ إِلا بِرِيحٍ، رِيحًا يَبْعَثُهَا اللَّهُ تَضْرِبُ وجُوهَ الْعَدُوِّ، وَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ قِوَامٌ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاصْبِرُوا
٩١٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو صَخْرٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: وَاصْبِرُوا يَقُولُ: وَاصْبِرُوا عَلَى دِينِكُمْ.
