9144 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Numayr narrated to us, Badal ibn al-Muhabbar narrated to us, from Abbad ibn Rashid, from al-Hasan, regarding "And be patient," he said: [Be patient] in performing the prayers.

9144 - Yahya ibn Habib ibn Isma'il ibn Habib ibn Abi Thabit narrated to us, Ja'far ibn 'Awn narrated to us, Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding His saying: "And be patient," he said: [Be patient] in jihad.

9145 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Habalah ibn Abi Rawwad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Marwan narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And be patient," he said: [Be patient] for the sake of Allah.

9146 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir narrated to me, Zakariyya ibn Manzur narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding the saying of Allah: "And be patient." Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Ibn Lahi'ah informed us, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, that Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: "Patience is the servant's acknowledgment to Allah of what has afflicted him, and seeking reward for it with Allah in hope of His recompense. A man may be in anguish while being steadfast, such that nothing is seen of him but patience."

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Allah is with the patient"

9147 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Harun ibn Sa'id al-Ayli narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, who said: I heard Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying: "Patience is of two kinds: patience for the sake of Allah regarding what He loves, even if it is heavy upon the souls and bodies; and patience for the sake of Allah regarding what He dislikes, even if desires pull towards it. Whoever is thus, he is among the patient ones upon whom peace is invoked, if Allah the Almighty wills."

9148 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from his father, regarding "And be patient, indeed, Allah is with the patient," meaning: Indeed, I am with you when you do that.

His saying: "And do not be like those who came forth from their homes"

9149 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn 'Atiyyah informed me - in what he wrote to me - my father narrated to us, my uncle narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: "And do not be like those who came forth from their homes, insolently and to be seen by people," meaning: the polytheists who fought the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on the day of Badr.

9150 - Muhammad ibn al-Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from his father, 'Abbad.
