His saying, the Almighty: "striking their faces and their backs."
9173 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "When the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved, striking their faces and their backs"—on the day of Badr.
9174 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Hashim, from Mujahid, regarding "striking their faces and their backs," he said: And their posteriors, but he used a metonymy (kinayah). This was also narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, 'Ikrimah, and 'Umar mawla Ghufrah, similar to the hadith of Abu Hashim.
His saying, the Almighty: "And taste the punishment of the Burning Fire."
9175 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Punishment ('adhab)," he says: Chastisement (nakal).
His saying, the Almighty: "That is for what your hands have put forth."
9176 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "That is," meaning: that which has befallen them.
His saying, the Almighty: "Like the custom of the people of Pharaoh," the verse to its end.
9177 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Like the custom (da'b) of the people of Pharaoh," he said: Like the deeds (sani') of the people of Pharaoh. Similar to this was narrated from Mujahid, al-Dahhak, Abu Malik, and 'Ikrimah.
His saying, the Almighty: "That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people."
9178 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves." He says: The favor of Allah is Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, which Allah bestowed upon Quraysh, but they disbelieved, so He transferred it to the Ansar.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَضْرِبُونَ وجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ
٩١٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ إِذْ يُتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الْمَلائِكَةَ يَضْرِبُونَ وجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ.
٩١٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ يَضْرِبُونَ وجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ قَالَ: وَأَسْتَاهَهُمْ، وَلَكِنَّهُ كَنَّى، وَرُوِيَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ.
وَعِكْرِمَةَ وَعُمَرَ مَوْلَى غُفْرَةَ نَحْوُ قول مجاهد حَدِيثِ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ
٩١٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: عَذَابَ يَقُولُ: نَكَالَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ذَلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ
٩١٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: ذَلِكَ يَعْنِي: الَّذِي نَزَلَ بِهِمْ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: كَدَأْبِ آلِ فرعون الآيَةَ إِلَى آخِرِهِ.
٩١٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالَ: كَصَنِيعِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَأَبِي مَالِكٍ وَعِكْرِمَةَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغِيرًا نعمة أنعمها على قوم
٩١٧٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطُ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغِيرًا نِعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ يَقُولُ: نِعْمَةُ اللَّهِ: مُحَمَّدٌ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ بِهَا عَلَى قُرَيْشٍ، فَكَفَرُوا وَنَقَلَهُ إِلَى الأَنْصَارِ.
