His saying, the Almighty: "And if you fear treachery from a people."
9192 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding Allah's saying: "And if you fear from a people treachery, then cast back to them on equal terms," he said: Whoever has a treaty with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), if you fear that they will betray you and act treacherously, and you come upon them, then cast back to them on equal terms.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then cast back to them on equal terms."
9193 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "then cast back to them on equal terms," he said: [This refers to] Qurayzah.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Allah does not love the treacherous."
9194 - Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali ibn 'Affan narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn 'Atiyyah narrated to us, Musa ibn Abi Habib narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Husayn, he said: Do not fight your enemy until you have cast back to them on equal terms, for "Indeed, Allah does not love the treacherous."
His saying, the Almighty: "And do not let those who disbelieve think they have escaped; indeed, they cannot cause failure [to Allah]."
9195 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "have escaped; indeed, they cannot cause failure [to Allah]," he says: They cannot outrun Us. It was narrated from al-Suddi something similar.
His saying, the Almighty: "And prepare for them."
9196 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from his father, regarding "And prepare for them what you are able of power," he said: He commanded them to prepare horses.
His saying, the Almighty: "For them."
9197 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And prepare for them," he said: Jihad."
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِنْ قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً
٩١٩٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- أَنْبَأَ أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِنْ قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ قَالَ: مَنْ عَاهَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ خفت أن يختانونك وَيَغْدُرُوا فَتَأْتِيَهِمْ فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءً
٩١٩٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلُهُ: فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ قَالَ: قُرَيْظَةُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ
٩١٩٤ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ قَالَ: لَا تُقَاتِلْ عَدُوَّكَ حَتَّى تَنْبِذَ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَبَقُوا إِنَّهُمْ لا يُعْجِزُونَ
٩١٩٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سَبَقُوا إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ يَقُولُ: لَا يَفُوتُونَا. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ
٩١٩٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ قَالَ: أَمَرَهُمْ بِإِعْدَادِ الْخَيْلِ.

٩١٩٧ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، ثنا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ قَالَ: الجهاد.
