His saying, the Almighty: "If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together"
9130 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from his father, and Hafs ibn Ghiyath, from Fudayl ibn Ghazwan, who said: I came to Abu Ishaq after he had lost his sight and said: "O Abu Ishaq, do you recognize me?" He replied: "Yes, by Allah, I recognize you and I love you for the sake of Allah; were it not for my shyness toward you, I would have kissed you." Then he said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah, regarding His saying: "If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together," he said: It was revealed concerning those who love one another for the sake of Allah.
His saying, the Almighty: "But Allah brought them together"
9131 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tihrani narrated to us in al-Rayy, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: Indeed, when Allah, the Almighty, brings hearts together, nothing can pull them apart. Then he recited: "If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together, but Allah brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might, Wise."
9132 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Malik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, from Talhah ibn Musarrif, from Mujahid, who said: When a man meets his brother and shakes his hand, their sins fall away just as the wind sheds leaves [from a tree]. A man said: "This is indeed an easy deed," so he replied: "Have you not heard Allah say: 'If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together, but Allah brought them together?'"
9133 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from his father: "If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together, but Allah brought them together"—by His religion with which He united them, meaning: the Aws and the Khazraj.
His saying, the Almighty: "O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and whoever follows you of the believers"
[First Perspective]
9134 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Sufyan informed us, from Shawdhab, from al-Sha'bi, regarding His saying: "O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and whoever follows you of the believers," he said: Sufficient for you is Allah and sufficient for whoever bore witness with you. A similar report was narrated from 'Ata' al-Khurasani and 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd.
