The second interpretation:

8137 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ told us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "That the angels should come to them," he said: "With death." And it was narrated from Mujahid and al-Suddi something similar.

The third interpretation:

8138 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ told us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "That the angels should come to them," he said: "With death." And it was narrated from al-Hasan and Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar.

His saying: "Or your Lord should come."

8139 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ told us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding "Or your Lord should come," he said: "On the Day of Resurrection."

8140 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn ‘Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma‘ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "Do they wait for anything other than that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come," he said: "On the Day of Resurrection, in shades of clouds."

His saying: "Or some of the signs of your Lord should come."

8141 - My father told us, Ibn al-Taba‘ told us, Waki‘ told us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from ‘Atiyyah, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), regarding His saying: "The day that some of the signs of your Lord will come, no soul will benefit from its faith," he said: "The rising of the sun from its west."

8142 - My father told us, ‘Isa ibn Ja‘far told us, Sufyan told us, from Mansur, from Abu al-Duha, from Masruq, from ‘Abdullah, regarding His saying: "Or some of the signs of your Lord should come," he said: "The rising of the sun and the moon, like two tethered camels, from the west."

His saying: "No soul will benefit from its faith."

8143 - Ahmad ibn Sinan told us, Yazid ibn Harun told us, Sufyan ibn al-Husayn informed us, from al-Hakam, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, from Abu Dharr, he said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) upon a donkey, and upon it was a saddlecloth and a velvet blanket. He said: And that was at sunset. He said: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where this sets?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "It falls down prostrate to its Lord beneath the Throne, and when it is time for its emergence, it is given permission, so it rises; but when He desires to make it rise from where it sets, He will restrain it, and it will say: 'O my Lord, my journey is far.' He will say to it: 'Rise from where you set.'"

That is when no soul will benefit from its faith that had not believed before.
