His saying the Exalted: "You have no duty of alliance with them until they emigrate."
9191 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "You have no duty of alliance with them"—meaning: you have no share in their inheritance.
9192 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn 'Atiyyah informed us—in what he wrote to me—my father narrated to us, my uncle narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas regarding "You have no duty of alliance with them until they emigrate," he said: Allah dissociated the believing Emigrants from their inheritance, and this is the alliance which Allah mentioned: "You have no duty of alliance with them until they emigrate," and it was an obligation upon the believers.
His saying the Exalted: "And if they seek help from you for the sake of the religion"
9193 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And if they seek help from you"—meaning: if the Muslim Bedouins seek help from the Emigrants and the Helpers against an enemy of theirs, then they are obligated to aid them. He said: "Except against a people between whom and yourselves there is a treaty."
9194 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And if they seek help from you for the sake of the religion," he says: because they are Muslims.
His saying the Exalted: "Then it is your duty to aid them, except against a people..." (the verse).
9195 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us—in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to us—my uncle narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "Then it is your duty to aid them, except against a people between whom and yourselves there is a treaty," [he said:] If they seek their help for the sake of the religion, they must aid them if they are fought, unless they seek help against a people between whom and the Prophet (peace be upon him) there is a treaty. There is no duty of aid for them against them, only against the enemy with whom there is no treaty.
9196 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us—in what he wrote to me—al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwudhi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And if they seek help from you for the sake of the religion, then it is your duty to aid them, except against a people between whom and yourselves there is a treaty," he said: The Muslims were forbidden regarding those with whom they had a treaty. For by Allah, your Muslim brother is greater in sanctity and right over you."
