[His saying, the Almighty: "We shall surely question the messengers"]
[The First Aspect]
8218 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih told me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas: "We shall surely question the messengers" about what they conveyed.
8219 - My father told us, ‘Ali ibn Maysarah told us, ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Abi ‘Uthman told us, from Sufyan al-Thawri, regarding His saying: "Then We shall surely question those to whom [messengers] were sent," [asking them]: What answer did they give you?
And the Second Aspect:
8220 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad told us, Mihran told us, from Sufyan, who said: Mujahid said regarding "And We shall surely question the messengers": It means Gabriel.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then We shall surely relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent."
8221 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d ibn ‘Atiyyah informed us in what he wrote to me: My father told us, my uncle told us, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas: Regarding his saying: "Then We shall surely relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent," he said: The book will be placed on the Day of Resurrection, and it will speak about what they used to do.
His saying, the Almighty: "And the weighing on that day is the truth."
8222 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And the weighing on that day is the truth." ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr said: It is said that a tall, great, eating, and drinking man will be brought, yet he will not weigh as much as the wing of a mosquito.
8223 - My father told us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah told us, Jarir informed us, from al-A‘mash, from Mujahid, regarding: "And the weighing on that day is the truth," he said: It means justice.
8224 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me: Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, regarding his saying: "And the weighing on that day is the truth," he said: It means the deeds.
8225 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Ibrahim ibn Musa told us, Ibn Abi Za'idah informed us, from Ibn Jarir, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Kathir, from Mujahid, regarding: "And the weighing on that day is the truth," he said: It means the judgment.
