8419 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn Sa‘id al-Asbahani told us, from ‘Amr ibn Thabit, from his father, from ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn: regarding His saying: "and what is concealed"—it is marriage to the wife of one’s father.
8420 - It was mentioned from Rawh ibn ‘Ubadah, ‘Uthman ibn Ghiyath told us, from ‘Ikrimah: "And what is concealed" of the immoralities is Zina (adultery/fornication) and theft.
His saying, the Almighty: "And sin"
8421 - al-Hasan ibn ‘Arafah told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, from Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from his father, from al-Nawwas ibn Sam‘an, who said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about sin. He replied: "Sin is that which wavers in your breast and you dislike that people should find out about it."
8422 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: regarding His saying: "and sin"—he said: Sin is disobedience.
His saying: "And injustice without right"
8423 - And through the same chain from al-Suddi: regarding His saying: "and injustice"—he said: It is that you act unjustly toward people without any right.
His saying, the Almighty: "And that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down any authority"
8424 - My father told us, Malik ibn Isma‘il told us, Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah told us, from ‘Amr, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas: he said: Every "authority" (sultan) in the Qur’an means proof (hujjah). Similar to this was narrated from Abu Malik, Muhammad ibn Ka‘b, ‘Ikrimah, Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, al-Suddi, al-Dahhak, and al-Nadr ibn ‘Arabi.
His saying, the Almighty: "And for every nation is a term appointed. So when their time comes, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]"
8425 - ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Isma‘il told us, ‘Affan told us, Wuhayb told us, Sa‘id ibn Abi ‘Arubah told us, who said: al-Hasan used to say: How foolish these people are! They say: "O Allah, prolong his life," while Allah says: "So when their time comes, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."
